| My name is Keaton Shorting and I am from Little Saskatchewan First Nation. I am 15 years old and in grade 9. My hobbies include playing video games, going for walks and listening to music. I won 3 gold medals 3 years in a row at the Manitoba First Nation Science Fair held annually in Winnipeg. This year I won gold again and qualified for a spot in the Canada-Wide Science Fair to be held in Regina, Saskatchewan in May this year. One memorable trip that I had was my participation to the First Nation and Inuit Youth National Science Camp held in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario last summer 2016, only 40 students were selected nation-wide and I am very lucky to be one of them. I became interested in this project when I saw a former student doing a project focused on lake/river water testing. This inspired me to do a science project focused on testing the tap water quality in my community bearing in mind the effect of the Spring Flood of 2011. For further investigation I would like to test most of the houses in the community that have been affected by the flood. |
