Biography
My name is Maria Alex and I am 12 years old. I am a grade 7 student attending Eskasoni Elementary and Middle School. I am a First Nation person, my culture is Mi'kmaw. I live in a beautiful First Nation community know as Eskasoni, which is the largest Mi'kmaw community of the Atlantic Provinces. I live with my parents and two older sisters. My hobbies include taking nature photos ,beading ,painting and DIY projects. I enjoy learning about my culture and spending time with my love ones. My career plan is to be a veterinarian. I would like to continue in science and study environmental issues. My proudest awards is placing first in the past 4 years in our Regional Science Fairs. I got the inspiration for this project from the issues that are occurring in my First Nation communities. The issue of fracking, unsafe cleaning water and the lost of traditional scared lands. I hope to build awareness and to create possible solutions for these very important issues.I want our leaders to hear this generations concerns and their voices to protect Mother Earth. My advice is a project can make a change in the way we do things.
