| Richard Wile Instruments Tops How Wood Choice Affect Sounds
Division: | Health Sciences | Category: | Junior | Region: | Halifax | City: | Bedford, NS | School: | Bedford South School | Abstract: | This project investigated if hardwood-topped stringed instruments produce a different sound than softwood-topped. Two standardized, simple instruments were made; with cedar and maple tops. They were plucked at standard stroke while music-recording software assessed wavefoms. Cedar produced consistent waveforms through the entire spectrum, confirming it as the popular stringed instrument top wood choice. |
