| Prashanthi Baskaran Allergenic Characterization of Two New Penicillium Species – A Step Towards Allergen Vaccines
Division: | Biotechnology | Category: | Intermediate | Region: | Ottawa | City: | Ottawa, ON | School: | Elmwood School | Abstract: | Molds have a predominant influence on humans. The purpose was to determine the biochemical and immunological properties of Penicillium brevicompactum and Penicillium viridicatum. Using an eight patient pool of serum Bradford Protein Assay, SDS-PAGE and Immunoblotting were performed. Data gathered quantified proteins that cause allergic reactions to humans. To de-synthesize allergic patients, cloning studies were carried out that could lead to obtaining vaccines. |
