Biographie
My name is Krish Shah. I am a regular kid with a slight twist; I am curious. Curiosity is my personality and it shows both every day and in my achievements. After the devastating Fort McMurray Wildfires, I was curious about how Fort McMurray was going to recover. To act on my curiosity, I co-founded EcoYOLO--an environmental group that is dedicated to engaging students to replant trees in my community. In 2017 EcoYOLO brought over 200 grade 8 students to plant 1680 saplings. This year, we are planning to double those numbers. I was soon recognized for EcoYOLO and various other volunteering events. I was awarded the Governor General's Sovereign's Medal for Volunteering; the most prestigious volunteering award in Canada. Another time my curiosity was shown was when my grandmother had gotten the flu. When we took her to the hospital, we learned that she had both the flu and a cardiovascular disease known as atrial fibrillation. In order to combat these diseases, I created a smartwatch application that can detect sudden and subtle cardiovascular irregularities. Anybody can make a project, but I believe that to change the world, one must act on their experiences mixed with their curiosity.
