John - My name is John, and I'm going to this year's national science fair with my partner Jared. You can read about our project elsewhere. Yes, I do plan on attending university in the fall. I am currently employed as a lifeguard at the pool in Weyburn, Sask. I play many sports such as cross country, track & field, curling, and soccer. I've played many more than that but those are the ones I'm still involved with. My parents names are Brad and Sara. I also have two younger brothers named Gene and Robert. I'm involved with some other things at school other than sports, such as our drama 'Footloose' this year, our Jazz band, and our S.T.A.R.S. choir. I do not usually have much spare time at all.
Jared - Okay, the name's Jared and I'm from the little town of Weyburn, SK. At school I'm in the Jazz band, STARS choir, spring musical, and a bunch of other stuff that no one wants to hear about. I love to curl (you know, the sport, come on, we're all Canadian!) and hang out with friends. The plan is to go to the University of Saskatchewan to study medicine in the fall, that is, if everything goes my way. The CWSF is definitely not one of the places I expected to find myself in life but, well, here I am and I hope this turns out to be a great experience that we'll all remember forever. Alright, that's all I got so see you around!

Abstract:Our project is an adaptation to the spine board that reduces the risk of injury to a victim with a potential spine injury. It works by counteracting the buoyant forces in the water by use of a strategically placed, removable weight.
