DNA Damage Induced Cell Death in Breast Cancer Cells That Differ in p53 Status

Abstract:I investigate the effect of p53 status on breast tumor cell survival after exposure to IR, and how inactivation of p53, ATM or DNA-PK contributes to radiotoxicity in breast tumor cells. I found that inhibition of p53 or DNA-PK sensitized p53 wild-type MCF7 cells to IR but had no effect on p53 mutant MDA-MB-231 cells; inhibition of ATM sensitized both cell lines to IR.
