My name is Daisy Xiao and I'm currently in grade 10 attending St. Ignatius High School, in Thunder Bay, ON. My favourite subjects in school are Math, Science and English and I enjoy art class as well. One of my hobbies is running, and I am a part of the local running group at Lakehead University. In addition, I also like to give back to my community by volunteering at my local library with their "Readers for Leaders" program. I also love playing the piano and have been taking lessons for the past 9 years. This June, I will be taking my Grade 9 Conservatory Canada Classical piano exam. This year, I decided to do a topic involving water filters for my science fair project because I am passionate about the environment and natural resources. I got the inspiration for this project from seeing an ad for a "natural" biodegradable water filter and wondering if I could make something similar myself with less materials. My advice to students considering taking on the task of a science fair project would be to just go for it, as you never know where your research will take you. |

This kind of filter is beneficial because it can be used in a natural environment and is renewable. |
