Oliver - My name is Oliver Johnson. I live in Calgary with my Mom, Dad and my little sister Lily. I am in grade 7 and I really enjoy school, all subjects! I like learning new things and having new experiences. I love to swim and I hope to get my lifeguard certificate. I love to play interactive video games in my free time such as Minecraft and Roblox, as they let you build and create anything, the only limit is your imagination. I enjoy creating video games that are fun and interactive. This is where the inspiration for our project began. Combining our interests of science and video games to create a game that is entertaining, exciting and educational. Using skills of observation and reasoning combined with an intensive escape scenario gives the player of Lab Escape Room an informative adventure. We have already started building new labs with intriguing escapes to make The Lab Escape Room project even bigger and better.
Jake - Jake Hutchins is a student born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. From an early age it was obvious to his family and friends that he possessed a robust curiosity and a keen sense of observation. Whether it was absorbing the details of anatomy, studying the complexities of something mechanical, or spending countless hours assembling and disassembling intricate prototypes of his own design, Jake has always been in his element and at complete ease in an environment of creation and discovery. With the exception of a certain enormous, destructive, prehistoric sea monster awakened and empowered by nuclear radiation (pop culture icon Godzilla), Jake’s passion has always been expressing his imaginative and artistic nature. Motivation to be creative is effortless to Jake. Resourcefulness and attention to detail are hallmarks of all his creations and artwork. Jake recommends other students satisfy their curiosity and passions through scientific projects and never stop exploring and asking questions. For these reasons, he is truly grateful for this opportunity to attend the Canada Wide Science Fair 2019 in Fredericton, N.B.
