My name is Gaia Fameli and I'm an eighth grader in Vancouver. So far I'm enjoying my first year of high school as I find many of the subjects interesting, my favourite being science (unsurprisingly). Aside from school I am part of the Cypress Ski Club, with which I got to travel around the province to take part in ski races. However, since the ski season is almost over I'm starting to get back into golf and tennis. I would say that tennis is my favourite sport because of the balance between physical demand and having a strong mentality. An interesting fact about me is that I am a dual Italian-Canadian citizen and get to go to Italy every year with my parents. Also, I spent two years abroad in Austria. There I attended school (grades 4 and 5), learned a new language and was exposed to a different culture. This was a very important experience for me because it taught me to adapt to a new environment from many viewpoints. While in Austria, we also travelled extensively in Europe, which I enjoyed a lot. |
| Gaia Fameli Nailing (the Issue with) Nail Polish
Challenge: | Health | Category: | Junior | Region: | Greater Vancouver | City: | Vancouver, BC | School: | Prince of Wales Secondary | Abstract: | In my experiment I investigated how different types of nail polishes affect one's fingernails. By constructing an experiment to address this question, I can conclude in which way nail polishes affect a person's fingernails. Observations from this experiment could educate people that were not aware of possible effects of nail polish on the health of fingernails, positive or negative. |
