Biographie
My name is Loretta. I am an introvert. I like to read or draw with my cat in a softly lit calm place while listening to music. I've been attending St.Theresa Point High school for the past year for my grade 12. I will graduate this year but I'll be applying to upgrade one or two of my marks in the city. This will be my fourth science fair that I've competed in. My first Canada wide science fair, I've never had this opportunity to explore science. I'm very excited to meet with everyone in Fredericton. My project focuses on something personal to me. A rampant issue in my community is Diabetes. In a family with a history of diabetics, the disease itself never felt like a part of life. I knew little about it until I started working on my project. It's genetic and it never occurred to me that all of my brothers and cousins were at risk regardless of how we lived our lives. I want to look more into this after the fair. A piece of advice for kids considering starting up a project is to remember why you're doing this.

The Effect of Glucose on Mesenchymal Stem Cells in a Wound Healing Assay
Défi:Santé
Catégorie:Sénior
Région:Island Lake
Ville:St. Theresa Point, MB
École:St. Theresa Point School
Sommaire:I wanted to dedicate a small project to researching Diabetes. One symptom of this disease I wanted to focus was the stunted healing rate for diabetics. To study this, I took pictures of 6 healing "wounds" with some sugar in each one to observe the effects. I want to take what I'd learned from the project overall and make a small difference in the world.
