My name is Kiera and I’m from Toronto, Ontario. The inspiration for my project came from research into textile waste where I learned some astounding statistics. Furthermore, I learned that harmful chemicals are often used to clean up oil spills. These environmental concerns are important to me and I hope that countries will be responsible to clean the environment. I enjoy playing sports like basketball, volleyball and baseball and carry enthusiasm for sports by cheering for the Raptors. I enjoy the arts and play instruments. I am active at school with the Languages club, Chess and Ping-pong club and as an executive on the student council. I try to balance my schedule by volunteering or just relaxing with my favourite Netflix shows like The Flash. Having my friends and family close is important to me. They are always around to bring me joy and laughter. Some advice for students thinking about doing a project is to bounce ideas off friends and family. They can provide helpful feedback, constructive criticism and expand your research. The science fair is an awesome opportunity to learn more about science, perform innovative experiments, meet new people and create new solutions to better our world! |
