Faults to Landslides: Making Waves

Abstract:Differently shaped tsunamigenic sources affect water wave behaviour. Wave tank simulations of landslides and submarine faults indicate that landslides create maximum wave heights when compared to submarine earthquakes of equal magnitude, but lose height faster. Fault line simulations generate higher second waves and the greatest rate of increase in wavelength.
