Arsenic: Leaching in our Midst II
Division:Engineering & Computing Sciences

Abstract:Arsenic is primarily used in the wood industry, in the products Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA) and Creosote. These products have leached into soil, creating an environmental hazard. This project examines: how over time, the concentration of arsenic in soil near wood treated with arsenic is increasing, and through simulating weather conditions how sealing CCA treated wood helps reduce the leaching of arsenic.
