Congratulations to school winners moving on to our Regional Science Fair. The Regional Science Fair will be held at Cape Breton University.  
Monday, March 25th, 2019 - Set up (Time to be determined) 

Tuesday, March 26th, 2019 8:30AM - 9:00AM Judges Orientation

9:15AM - 3:00PM (more info to follow)

Wednesday, March 27th, 2019 Public Viewing and School Visits

6:00PM - 7:00 PM Presentations of Awards

 A Science Fair Project IS


 ✴ A unique project that aims to test a specific hypothesis and draw a conclusion based on that

  hypothesis.

✴ A study that has a focused question, and a design to answer that question.

✴ An experiment, innovation or study designed by the researcher with a specific goal in mind.

✴ A chance to explore science from one’s own perspective and examine topics of individual  

   interest.

✴ Students behaving as scientists and examining their skills with the scientific method.



A Science Fair project IS NOT

✴ The repetition of an experiment or study that is found online or in text.

✴ A research paper with a presentation.

✴ An assignment that can be successfully completed on one weekend.

✴ An easy activity.

✴ An explanation of how something works, if it is already known how it works.

✴ An instruction manual for a piece of technology or scientific principl

Congratulations to all who participated in the 2018 Cape Breton Regional Science Fair. 

   The following students represented Cape Breton at the Canada Wide Science Fair held in Ottawa, Ontario.

  Susan MacInnis, grade 10 student at Riverview High School, won her challenge award as well as a GOLD medal in her divsion.
