Due to COVID-19 guidelines and the closure of Ontario Teach University to public events, the Durham Regional Science Fair will not be held this year.

Students in grades 4 to 12 who live in Durham Region (including Ajax, Oshawa, Pickering, Whitby and rural areas of Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge) are invited to participate in the annual Durham Regional Science Fair (DRSF) hosted by the Faculty of Science at Ontario Tech University. 

 Any eligible student can participate in the DRSF regardless of whether they have completed their project for a school science fair, a library science fair, a club or extracurriclar group science fair or  independently for a home-school project or just out of individual curiosity and passion.  Students are not required to have participated in and/or won at a school or other local science fair before entering the DRSF.

Projects are assigned to one of four categories - biological science, physical science, computer science and engineering. But projects can examine all aspects in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) including biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, physics and engineering as well as topics such as environmental science, conservation, energy and sustainability. New areas of interest include gaming and the development of computer and mobile phone apps.

Registration Deadline:  Friday March 27, 2020 (by midnight)

  Registration of participants for the 2020 Fair is free!

Remember to complete all of the details of the project registration (including the short summary or abstract) and

complete and sign the Permission Form (see Sample Form).

 Review the Rules and Regulations posted on this website to ensure your project is eligible to be entered. If your project is eligible, complete the Registration process by following the instructions provided at the following link to this DRSF Registration website:  DRSF Registration.

Note: each project must be registered by using a unique and valid email address. 
If several projects are being entered from one school, each project must be registered with a separate (and valid) email address.  If there are two students involved with one project, the project need only be registered once with a valid email address; both partners do not have to register separately.
Please submit the signed Permission Form for the student(s) involved with each project to the Coordinator of the Durham Regional Science Fair by the deadline (March 27, 2020).  If unable to meet this deadline, please notify the DRSF Coordinator.
 NOTE:  Projects with more than two students involved are not permitted at a Regional Science Fair level.
