Our experiment determined whether cleansing hands with soap and hot water or cleansing hands with alcohol based liquid hand sanitizer leaves fewer bacteria present. We used blood agar plates to record the bacteria growth at 35 degrees Celsius over a course of seventy-two hours. rnrnWith poor hand washing being one of the main factors of the spread in bacteria and disease, we felt it was important to test the effectiveness of two common hand cleansers, antibacterial soap and alcohol based liquid hand sanitizer. This project did not only determine which method of hand cleansing kills the most bacteria, but also give many an idea of how well people wash their hands. rnrn
