Many people have witnessed how cruel the sun can be. That's right; we are talking about those painful, irritating sunburns. A sunburn is literally a burn of your skin cells, produced by overexposure to the sun, the natural and most common source of ultraviolet radiation. In our experiment, we wanted to learn how we can protect ourselves from these harmful rays by what we wear. Using UV sensitive paper and a UV light machine, we examined and compared the UV protection levels of different fabrics, different colours of cotton, and the effect of commercial sun blocking dye products.
