CWSF 2009 - Winnipeg, Manitoba

Print/Download as PDF

I enjoy playing classical piano and flute. I take dance lessons and compete in other sports including triathlons, x-country skiing, down hill skiing, and soccer. This is my first Canada Wide Science Fair, but this is my fourth project. I have competed in the Mackenzie District Science Fair twice, the Prince George Regional Science Fair 3 times, the West Kootenay/ Boundary Science Fair once and this will be my first Canada Wide. After High School I would like to go into the medical field. I would enjoy being a pharmacist, but would like to study Down Syndrome or Huntingtons Diesease.

Abstract:Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is a chemical originally used to clean garage floors but is now used in personal care products as a foaming agent. I did a study on SLS and it's affects on humans, animals, and the environment. I also interviewed four companies about their thoughts of the use of SLS in products, and the canadian cancer society, the EWG, and the FDA.
