CWSF 2010 - Peterborough, Ontario

Print/Download as PDF

My name is Bernadette Weaver and I am an honor student at Almaguin Highlands Secondary School. This is my first year in high school and I have had a great year. Science and math continue to be my favorite subjects. I enjoy many sports and play on my school basketball and volleyball teams. After years of figure skating I decided to switch to girl’s hockey this year. It was a great season and I am looking forward to summer hockey. During my free time, when not playing sports, I like to read and paint. This is my second trip to CWSF and I am honored to be representing my region again.

Abstract:The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the effect of triclosan, a common antibacterial agent, on the growth of E.coli and how this could affect the ability of a septic system to breakdown organic waste. The results show that consumers need to be aware of the products that they purchase and the effect that the products may have on septic systems and the environment.
