I am a grade 8 student from Hanna, Alberta. I live on a small ranch with my parents, brother and two sisters. One of my main interests is animals and I have several horses, goats, a ball python, tarantula and a fish for pets. I have been involved in 4-H for the past five years and am in horse, steer and market lamb projects this year. One of the many 4-H activities that I am interested in is public speaking which most kids hate but I actually love. I have my green belt in Tae Kwon Do and am working towards testing for my blue belt. In the winter I am involved in after school curling and I also volunteer as an assistant coach in the junior curling program. I curl competitively on a Bantam girls curling team and I am the team skip. Other interests include reading, music and outdoor activities like camping. I am a volunteer for our local Ducks Unlimited Chapter in Hanna and I’m a strong believer in wildlife conservation. In the future I would like to pursue a career in Pediatrics or Speech Therapy. I competed at CWSF last year in Winnipeg MB.

Sommaire:This project focused on the development of a website (www.thepriceofspeed.ca) and design of an online calculator which calculates the lbs. of CO₂ emissions produced when travelling. The calculator demonstrates how excess speed contributes greatly to greenhouse gas emissions and is designed to demonstrate the significant savings to our environment, simply by driving the speed limit.
