Samantha has a love of science and music. She is a top academic, and an award winning student in Grade 10 at Collingwood’s Pretty River Academy. In 2011, at her regional Science Fair, she won a gold medal and Best of Fair in Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Samantha is also a part-time, Blogger and was invited to Montreal in 2011 as media to report on Canada’s second National Reading Summit. Samantha has worked for a Veterinary Service and interned with a Website Design and Interactive Communications Agency. It is the combination of her love of Science, and her understanding of Social Media that inspired her 2012 Science Fair Project. She recently toured China as a part of Grade 11 World Politics Credit. In summer 2011 Samantha was the only Canadian to be accepted to the Singers Onstage Youth Operetta programme in Washington D.C. Samantha plays the flute, piccolo and baritone saxophone. She has performed in multiple community events and is working on Grade 8 flute and Grade 5 Voice with The Royal Ontario Conservatory of Music. Samantha plans to pursue Material Science Engineering, with a graduate degree, following three generations of engineers on both sides of her family.
