I am Anna Vu from Sir John A. MacDonald High School in Hamilton, Ontario. I was fortunate to have been involved in doing research with Dr. David Thomson this past year and I can't thank my teacher, Robert Roddie, enough for setting everything up with YES Mentorship Program. It has made me passionate about science, provided me with laboratory experience, and more eager to learn. When given an opportunity to do a project and participate in an event where it's all about science, take it! It is a wonderful experience to meet new people and gain knowledge. My hobbies and interests include reading, playing sports, volunteering and music. I would like to pursue a career in radiology, specializing in ultrasounds.

Attention and Vocal Attractiveness in Men and Women
Region:Bay Area
City:Hamilton, ON
School:Sir John A. Macdonald S.S.
Abstract:This project investigated whether cross-modal Stroop effects would be affected by the pitch of an irrelevant, opposite-sex voice. Results show that are no size differences in Stroop effects as a function of voice pitch. Trend found in male participants toward larger Stroop effects for male voices compared to female voices provide a basis for further investigation.
