My name is Deklen Crocker. I was born on July 7th, 1999 and I am fourteen years old. I go to East Three Secondary School in Inuvik and I am in the ninth grade. This is my second time competing at the Canada-Wide Science Fair. I really enjoy working with batteries and other power sources when I get the chance. I am a good singer. I enjoy playing many sports such as hockey, curling, floor hockey, and soccer; and in the summer, longboarding. I have been to the U18 Optimist International Curling Championships in 2012. I have been to the M&M Meat Shops Canadian Junior Curling Championships for Team NWT. I will be representing Team NWT for the Canada Winter Games in curling. You’ll see that I am short for my age but I don’t let that get in my way.

Abstract:This project was continued from last year's. Testing whether the material of the bolt, the gauge of the wire, the brand of the battery and the voltage made the most powerful electromagnet. The results showed the stronger electromagnet was composed of galvanized steel bolt, a longer core, and energizer 6V battery.
