Seamus Stears is a Grade 8 student at Baddeck Academy, where besides excelling in academics, he is Junior Vice President of Student Council, participates in the drama club, and plays on the basketball team. Outside of school, he trains regularly in Tae Kwon Do. He is a black belt and is testing for his 2nd Dan in 2015. Seamus also enjoys soccer in the summer and curling in the winter. His real passion is golf, and he practices diligently to improve his game. He hopes to attend a university with a great golf program when he graduates high school. Anything related to golf and Seamus is interested. That was the inspiration for this project. The project results had a bit of a twist, which led to more questions and possibly another project. Science Fair Projects are challenging, interesting, and very rewarding, so "Take Your Best Shot".

Abstract:Seven different brands of golf balls were tested for their bounciness, and then compared to the distance they travelled when hit with a driver. The results were plotted on a graph, and show that for the most part, the bouncier ball does travel further when hit with the same club.
