My name is Kathryn Nicol and I am a student in Grade 9 Extended French with the Renfrew County District School Board in Ontario. I enjoy learning French and business at school, but science is definitely my favourite! I am involved in school in many ways: Key Club, Free the Children club, sports teams such as badminton, track and field, Cross Country running and basketball. In 2014, I had the opportunity to be a page in the Ontario Legislature for 5 weeks, learning about political process and governmental duties. My hobbies include running, swimming, reading, playing the piano, and playing badminton and basketball. After high school, I plan on attending university for political sciences or astrophysics. I got the idea for my project by reading a Cheerios Effect advertisement on the back of a Cheerios box and then studying the physical schematics of the Cheerios Effect. I would like to learn more about how the Cheerios Effect affects galaxies' aggregation and the science behind gerridae. My advice for other students interested in a science project is "Ignore the naysayers who say your idea isn't scientific. There is science in everything!"

Sommaire:The Cheerios Effect is what occurs in a bowl of liquid wherein materials aggregate, and it's named for the cereal that exhibits that. The purpose of my experiment was to determine the justification of the name and compare materials to see which are most efficient at demonstrating the Cheerios Effect. (E.g. whether other materials can be classified under the umbrella of the Cheerios Effect.)
