Clarifying the Function of Vitamin E
City:St. Catharines, ON
School:Laura Secord S.S.
Abstract:Recently, vitamin E has shown to possibly be involved in gene expression in addition to its antioxidant properties. A new molecule was synthesized that mimics vitamin E but with no antioxidant properties. It is hypothisezed that this sacrifice of vitamin E's antioxidant properties will stop its ability to effect the expression of certain genes.
