Hi my name is William Campbell and I am from Arviat, Nunavut and have lived here for eleven years. I enjoy playing soccer, swimming and playing outside and watch the occasional polar bear walk by from the safety of my house. The reason why I chose this project about snow fences is due to the fact that we get many blizzards which cause us to get big drifts around our homes and cabins. I wanted to try and find a solution to prevent snow drifts from developing around my home. In the future I would like to build a snow fence close to my home to help prevent snow drifts. My advice for others would be to choose a project that you really enjoy studying and learning about because it is a lot of work.

Sommaire:We sought to find a more efficient way to stop snow from accumulating near a remote hunting camp infrastructure. We found that an angled fence produced a larger down wind snow free area recording 38% less snow accumulation than conventional fence designs and 87% less accumulation than the control. We believe the angled fences ability to laterally deflect wind bourne snow created this result.
