Derek - My name is Derek Yin i'm 16 years old and I was born in Urumqi, China. Some of my hobbies include swimming, programming and photography. Ever since the age of 3 when I was first introduced to computers I was interested towards them and curious on how they work. I would spend hours just going through all the menus as a kid as I found them really fascinating. Fast forward to today I am making my first Android application with my friend and hopefully publishing it on the Google play store. The inspiration for our project is basically just being locked out and thinking of a better method of entering my own home. In the future we plan on expanding our system to control the whole house while adding sensors to detect various things. For students thinking of doing a project, do a project that you have a passion for, not something that other people chose for you.
Himanshu - My name is Himanshu Sharma and I was born in 1999 in Punjab, India. When I was 5 years old my uncle bought me a computer and taught me how to use it. Because of that I have been very passionate about technology and have always wanted to learn more. Since then I have moved to Canada and my knowledge has increased dramatically because of internet research. In my free time I like to learn more about software development and new technologies. I have previously designed robots, made software for school projects and also working on developing an android application. My future goal is to become a software developer. I am looking forward to the CWSF to see other brilliant projects made by other teenagers around Canada.

Sommaire:We designed and built a Garage door system powered by a Raspberry Pi which allows users to control the opening and closing state of their garage door from any local internet connected device using a JavaScript supported web browser.
