My name is Roopa Suppiah and I am currently in 10th grade at Mackenzie High School, Deep River, Ontario. Currently, I play the piano, violin and saxophone, and I am a member of the Deep River Symphony Orchestra and the school band. I am part of the Deep River Karate Club where I am about to grade for my black belt. Also, at the club I coach junior level students. I am also involved in figure skating, soccer and school sports. As a member of the Interact Club at school, I help local, national and international communities’ needs. I particularly enjoy participating in science fairs. Since grade 7, I have entered in the regional fair where I have won numerous awards including first prize and other special awards from AECL, Agriculture Canada, OPG, etc. Also, I received the opportunity to attend the National Science Fair in Saguenay, Quebec in 2006. I received various prestigious awards including the AECL award. I have been involved in many projects dealing with world issues such as global warming or the use of renewable and clean energy sources. Science Fair is a great experience and I hope to continue these projects.

Sommaire:Since global warming due to CO2 emissions into the atmosphere is a forefront issue, I demonstrate a unique method of reducing CO2 emissions through its conversion to organic chemicals by combining electrolysis with photocatalysis. Experiments involving electrolysis of water with catalysts in the presence of CO2 with and without UV light confirmed conversion of CO2 to organic carbons.
