My name is Victoria Layton. My family moved to Norman Wells, NWT, this past summer. I'm currently a 10th grade student at Mackenzie Mountain School with dreams of becoming a Professor of Mythology, Religion, Culture, and History. I've always wondered about snow and it's differences from one area to another, so, when Mr.Coupe explained we'd be doing science fair this year, he and my parents helped me to find a definite path to discover differences on a molecular scale in snow in different areas around Norman Wells. In future possible opportunities, I'd like to see what other differences (besides ppm, conductivity, and pH levels) are in snow in different areas around Norman Wells. As for advice I would give to other students thinking about doing a project, stick to your vision. If you don't want to do something that is suggested to you that seems to not fit with your vision, don't do it! It's your project, not theirs! This is my first science fair...ever! I'm excited to see all the different projects and for the experiance that this opportunity provides.

Variables of ppm, pH, and conductivity of Snow around Norman Wells, NWT

Sommaire:Samples of snow from six different locations over a four week period were taken in Norman Wells (NT). Each was measured for its pH, ppm, and conductivity. Each variable had one location where its value was relatively high. Intensive sampling has been conducted of all locations previously analyzed to determine if the values were due to location or fluke, and if values increased with time.
