My name is Emily Goodson, I am in grade 7 and I am really fascinated by science, as well as nature and the outdoors. I am very passionate about the environment, and this passion has led me to doing multiple science fair projects based on critical environmental issues. This year, my science fair project was based on protecting the polar ice caps. I selected this topic after being inspired by my previous teacher, whose class was doing many projects based on small environmental issues. I was trying to find a link between these problems, and I found most were linked by climate change, or the rising oceans. I then discovered that the state of the polar ice caps impact many things, and I wanted to explore more, which led me to my science fair project. If I were to go further with my project, I would probably want to research how much of an impact the domes I've innovated would have on the ice caps. If I could give advice to other young scientists of the world, it would have to be: Never give up on your dreams; let your passion for science drive you to explore and discover.

Re-Freezing the Polar Ice Caps
Région:Simcoe County
Ville:Beeton, ON
École:Cookstown P.S.
Sommaire:This project includes precise information on the extreme issue of the melting polar ice caps, and the effects of this problem globally. It includes an innovation built to help preserve the ice caps and resolve many global problems being caused by this. Two smaller versions of this innovation have been created and tested to ensure they have beneficial effects on ice.
