Biography
I am a grade 8 student at Joseph Gould Public School in Uxbridge, Ontario. In September, I will be starting grade 9 in the Performing Arts Program at O’Neill C.V.I. in Oshawa. Music is a passion of mine. For 3 ½ years I have taken piano lessons and I am now in grade 7 of the RCM program. I enjoy singing and am a member of the JG Jazz Explosion Choir and play the trumpet in the JG Concert Band. Since grade 6, electricity has interested me and all my science projects since have had an electricity theme. I treasure good memories so scrapbooking and writing are hobbies, and some of my stories have appeared in newspapers. Tennis is my favourite sport, and I enjoy playing with my family and friends. Helping the community is a priority and I am a member of Roxy Kids in Action in Uxbridge doing much needed volunteer work. Life is fun. I have a great sister, Lauren, and fantastic parents, as well as great friends and plenty of enjoyable hobbies. I have high hopes for my future. My goals are to succeed in music at O’Neill and to eventually become a lawyer.

Wind turbine blades...a 'hole' lot better.
Division:International / None
Category:Junior
Region:Durham
City:Uxbridge, ON
School:Joseph Gould P.S.
Abstract:The innovation of adding venturi ‘holes’ and ‘slots’ to the surface of the blade is studied. The ‘venturi’ blades were tested and compared with the standard blade in deviation, electrical generation and wind speed tests and observed and compared in a wind tunnel. The addition of venturi holes improved the electrical output by almost 15% while the addition of venturi slots improved electrical output 12%.
