Abstract:The purpose of this project was to find out if heredity affected the pattern of a fingerprint. I hypothesized that if we inherit eye, hair, and skin colour, why not fingerprint patterns. I compared fingerprint patterns between children and parents to determine if genetics had an effect. Upon analysis 67% of the individuals tested shared a 60% similarity in their fingerprint patterns with their parents.
