Biography
My name is Florian Alexander Pavlik, but everyone calls me Alex because of my middle name. I am from Barrie Ontario and go to Oakley Park Public School, a tiny school across the street from one of the largest high schools in the area. I have two pets, the cutest dog ever named Charlie, and a snake appropriately named Snaky. My three biggest passions in life are science, math, and volleyball. My favorite pastime is reading. I am always reading at least three books at once, two fiction and one non-fiction. My dream job is to become a Mechanical Engineer and work at JPL. I came up with the idea for last year’s project in a sudden thought while letting Charlie out in the backyard. This year’s idea grew from last year’s project. I would love to test my applicable ideas for a further study. The best advice I can give someone thinking about doing a project is to go for it because what is the worst that can happen? It has been my childhood goal to go to the Canada Wide Science Fair and I finally have proved that if you work hard enough you can reach your goals.

Abstract:The purpose of this experiment was to see if there is a correlation between the mass of a gas and its thermal conductivity. No correlation was found. Nitrogen was the best insulator tested as a gas and when injected inside fiberglass insulation. By creating a hexagonal pattern of cells with fiberglass insulation and Nitrogen inside them, houses could be 100% more heat efficient.
