Kaden - Kaden Legue Venugopal is a Grade 8 student at Bliss Carman Middle School in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He holds a brown/blue belt in judo, is enrolled in French immersion, and is learning Japanese and Spanish. He can solve a Rubik’s cube in under 30 seconds, and has the highest marks in his class. As the son of an Indian father and Eastern European mother, Kaden has a keen interest in culture, religion, international foods, and travel. His goal is to graduate from medical school, and have a career where he can save lives. The project was inspired when Kaden and Tyler Sun were looking at Canadian death statistics and noticed that most of the deaths were accounted for by obesity. They were inspired to teach kids about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle in a fun, interactive way. For those who want to pursue STEM fairs, Kaden suggests looking at a problem Canadians face and trying to find a new approach in dealing with it. Keep in mind to not do science fairs for medals around your neck, but to do it for the advancements of humanity and society.
Tyler - -It all started out at the dinner table when my parents talked about their usual gossip on the province and the country. One topic always came and left from the dinner table and that is the problem of obesity. And so I set out to conquer it. During my daily life, I often enjoy messing around with technology, this could include programming, building on my RaspberryPi or sometimes playing video games. When I would play video games, I realized the strong urge to pursue it and do anything I could to obtain the highest rank. This is what brought me to think: "Why can't I use this to help the world?" and I did. This is how my project came to be. -I hope that in the future, games will not only be used to help kids eat healthy, it could also teach them a lot of other useful skills and lessons. -Keep in mind that science doesn't only reward people with medals around their necks, it is the primary factor in the advancement of humanity and society.

Sommaire:Our project "Guns to Heal" explores solutions for the epidemic of childhood obesity in Canada. We have developed a game that shows kids the consequences of being obese and rewards them with in-game currency if they eat healthy foods in real life. Simply put, the game's overall objective is to teach children the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
