Abstract:This study deals with currently unknown aspects of myofibroblast physiology responsible for the wound healing process after myocardial infarction with respect to activation of calcium transport proteins. The modes of calcium flux into and out of the cells through various channels embedded in the plasma membrane are investigated to study the role of calcium in cell migration and contractility in the heart after myocardial infarction.
