Biographies
Rebecca - My name is Rebecca Hollett, but most people know me as Becky. I’m 15 years old currently in grade 9 attending St. Paul’s Jr. High School, in St. John’s Newfoundland. I am very active with my school being a member of the Sr. Girls Volleyball team, Sr. Girls Soccer team, Show Choir and 8&9 Choir, last year I was awarded the medal for show choir in my school. Outside of school I play organized soccer and hockey. One of my greatest accomplishments was being a member of the Newfoundland girl’s hockey team where we traveled to Ontario to compete in a national tournament. We placed second and I was named MVP for one of our games. I also enjoy dancing, swimming, playing piano and reading. In my spare time I volunteer for the Kidney Association of Canada going door-to-door collecting donations. When I grow up I want to go to University and study Architectural Engineering and one-day design my own home.
Avineet - My name is Avineet Sekhon, and I am a grade nine student at St.Paul's Junior High School in St.John's Newfoundland. I enjoy reading, writing, and playing various sports such as soccer and swimming. I am on my school's Senior Girl's Basketball team, and was also on the Senior Girl's Soccer Team. I am also a member of the Grade Eight and Nine Girl's Choir, as well as the Show Choir. I enjoy playing the tenor saxophone, and I am a member of the Jazz Band and the Symphonic Band at my school. I have been participating in public speaking for the past 6 years, and one of my speeches was published in The Telegram. As science is my favourite subject in school, in the future I am planning on entering the field of science and perhaps obtaining an mdPhD, or getting a degree in medicine and becoming a doctor. I was also part of a documentary called Becoming 13, which was made by the National Film board. I attended the CWSF in Sagueney last year as well.

Sommaire:Our objective was to see whether seal oil has the same oxidation levels as other cooking oils. We beleived it would. We used four oils; canola, fish, seal and olive oil. We fried fries in different oil mixtures and took samples of the oils at 6 time points. We found the total oxidation levels, and also performed a fatty acid analysis on the fry samples.
